![]() The performance-oriented GXP trades the 2.4L Ecotec engine for a turbocharged 2.0L I4, boosting horsepower by nearly 50% to 260 and increasing torque to 260 lb. Along with the fiercer engine, the GXP receives a sportier 4-wheel independent suspension, dual exhaust outlets, and fog lamps. Convenience features such as cruise control, power mirrors and windows, remote keyless entry and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls are included as well. Both GXP models are price at about $30,000. A broad array of options, including a 5-speed automatic transmission, leather seats, air conditioning, a 6-disc CD changer, and larger speakers help soften the Solstice's purposeful roadster experience. Metallic pedals and a rear spoiler are available on both trims, while the Club Sport Package adds ABS brakes, a limited-slip rear differential and a stiffer suspension to the base model. Both models come with a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty, a 5-year/100,000 mile drivetrain warranty, a 6-year/ 100,000 mile corrosion warranty, and a 5-year/ 100,000 mile roadside assistance warranty. The Base Trims achieve a fuel economy of 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, while the GXP trims boast 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. In 2009, Pontiac introduces the Coupe to its Solstice line. The coupe provides Solstice drivers with a vehicle that has all the same specification and options as the 2008 Solstice but gives them the option of having a hardtop instead of a convertible top. Also new to the 2009 Pontiac Solstice, limited-slip differential, ABS and stability control are now standard on the base Solstice. Sensuous looks; affordable; turbo power optional. The 2009 Pontiac Solstice is a terrific blend of affordability and exceptional styling, while the GXP adds performance to the mix. More standard features, such as traction control and XM satellite radio, make the Solstice an even better value than last year. |
